03:41 pm It's been awhile since I updated this and this one is going to have some venting in it.
In September the hubby and I quit smoking (yay us!). I started trying to get exercise in to help stave off inevitable weight gain. Now I haven't really changed my eating habits a whole lot. I do make sure I eat breakfast everyday and I don't snack much. Other than that no big changes. Well I'm up to some form of workout 7 days a week. I like working out so this isn't a big deal. The problem is since I quit smoking my body image has gone down the tubes. I mean it's shit. I have put on a few pounds which I don't mind too much. I mean it is a little weird for me, I'm used to not being able to put on weight. Now I'm by no means fat. Heck, today I got on the scale after having breakfast and lunch and was at 113 (see I am not afraid to post my weight...that's a good thing right?) and I'm 5'3". But more often than not I feel uncomfortable in my own skin and I hate it. I used to be more self confident and suddenly that's gone. It's not even an everyday kind of thing, just most days. Like today, when I got on that scale and saw the outcome my mood veered downward. I hate it. Now I know I could maybe try to eat a little healthier, but you try doing that in this day and age when everything costs an arm and a fucking leg. Hell that's why I quit smoking in the first place, it was too damn expensive. I have horrible body image and the part I hate the most? My stomach. We went and had pictures done for our annual Christmas cards and ordered a pic of just the hubby and I (it was free!). Well when we ordered it I was very pleased with it. Then I got the actual picture today and all I can see is gut. It's ridiculous...and saying it feels ridiculous but there it is. I'm unhappy and I'm trying so hard to do something about it. Yesterday it felt like I was actually getting somewhere and today I feel like a lump. Oh and that picture, the hubby will be lucky if he gets to see it.
Okay, I vented...I think I'll go huddle off in a corner and cry a bit...for no damn reason. I feel...like I shouldn't be allowed to vent about this kind of stuff. Like it's not my right, which I know is silly but I can't help it. Current Mood: defeated

08:21 am - It's been awhile...
As the title says, it's been awhile. I've got a bit to say.
Friday, the 26th was our 10 year anniversary. 10 years! It feels awesome. On Friday we drove up to the Dallas area. While we were making plans to go I got ahold of pisceskitty to see if she wanted to finally meet up. See, she and I have been chatting online and on the phone for about as long as I've been married. We had children within 5 months of eachother. I've wanted to meet her for a long time. She was happy to meet us. So we get there and I let her know we're in town. She calls and we tell her where we're staying. I shower and as I'm getting dressed, she gets there. Woohoo! We went out to dinner (mmm Airways burgers, I'm already craving another one) then back to the hotel for swimming. We swam, we talked, went back to the room, talked some more and took pictures. I hated when it was time for her to leave, I was having such a good time. I can't believe I finally got to meet her. She was everything I knew she was from our conversations and more. Pics are up on Facebook and Myspace if y'all want to see them.
Saturday we went to Six Flags. I got to ride Batman (shut up you pervs! *grin*), first ride of the day (for me and the ride hehe). Loved it! Also rode Mr. Freeze which was pretty exhilerating. We walked around, a lot. Kept ourselves hydrated (it was freaking hot!). Aquaman was a godsend of a ride. Took pictures. Hubby got a neat one of the park with our hotel behind it (yes we were that close). Again, pics are up on Facebook and MySpace.
Sunday we drove into downtown Dallas to check out the Grassy Knoll and the Book Depository. We weren't sure if we'd be able to do the Sixth Floor Museum (that's the floor Oswald was on) but it opened at 10 that morning (it was about 5 til when we got there). So we did the museum which had all kinds of fascinating pictures and stuff. They even had the corner where Oswald was "recreated". After that we went down to the Grassy Knoll and walked around a bit. Saw the "x" they painted in the street (where Kennedy's car was when he was shot). Really interesting slice of history there. After that we headed home.
It was a great anniversary weekend. We did a nice family trip. Oh, I should mention that for gifts, I got a family ring (a ring with all of our birthstones in it)...for hubby I had his Bender statue mounted (with engraved plaques) so he could put it on his desk at work. I will say that I can't imagine a better husband and I'm very lucky to have him.
Today my friend Jenn is flying in. She was one of my bridesmaids. We kinda lost touch for a bit, but when I went back home in April, we reconnected. She'll be here until next Tuesday. I am so excited! Current Mood: ecstatic

09:59 am - Sister Update/News My sister was sent home last week, seems she was doing really well. Fastforward to this morning. I got a call from my mother about an hour and a half ago. She was on her way to pick up my stepfather and go to the hospital. My sister is back in the hospital in critical condition and things don't look good. I don't know any other details, but I'm on really on edge and worried right now. My sister is going to be 42 in ten days, she's way too young. She passed away about an hour ago. Current Mood: scared

04:13 pm - Well damn.... I got an email from my mom today asking me to please call her. So I do. It's not good news. One of my older sisters (my stepdad's girls) is in the hospital. She has leukemia. They found it quickly and there is an 87% survival rate so I'm trying to be positive. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the news. They've started (last night) her first five days of intense chemo, then there will be a round of tests and then another five days of intense chemo. She'll be in the hospital for at least 3 weeks. I'm just kind of, hell I don't know how to describe it. This is my sister damn it! Ugh.

09:26 pm - American Idol - Motown
I do love me some Motown! I'm hoping for a good show tonight. Shall we see how it panned out? Matt Giraud - Let's Get It On - His falsetto was fabulous tonight. Still keeping the vibrato to a minimum (yay!). That was very well done and kinda sexy too. Kris Allen - How Sweet It Is - He is indeed nice to look at and his voice is very pleasant however I don't feel any kind of a spark. I will admit he's better with the guitar. It was good but not fabulous. I keep wanting to like him more than I do. Scott MacIntyre - You Can't Hurry Love - Interesting song choice. I was glad to see him pick up the pace but I'm not sure this was the right way for him to do it. He had some seriously off notes while he sang. It wasn't as horrid as Simon said but it wasn't really all that good either. Megan Joy - For Once In My Life - There were more off notes than not in that performance. It was really, really bad. I liked her a lot last week but this week I couldn't stand her. Anoop Desai - Oooo Baby Baby - I love this song and I adore Anoop. I don't like them so much together. He was off quite a bit when he sang in falsetto and it was rather boring. Michael Sarver - Ain't To Proud To Beg - Which may be what he'll have to do after that hot mess he left on stage. He should never sing with falsetto again. Throwing some growl into the song is not going to make that any better. Really, really off notes at the end. Lil Rounds - Heat Wave - Is this song ever good when song on American Idol? I admit to being quite disappointed in Lil this week. That wasn't near as great as I know she can be. This should have been her week and instead she was just meh. Adam Lambert - Tracks Of My Tears - Is it just me or did he look quite a bit like Elvis tonight? I mean young, handsome Elvis. The suit and the hair? Yeah I don't think it's just me. Having said all that, the only other thing I can say is WOW. Oh and fabulous, incredible, brilliant, awesome, and beautiful. It was pure, simple and lovely. He showed a tender side and it worked. Danny Gokey - Get Ready - No Tori I'm not going to set you on fire. :D I have to say that when he was talking with Smokey and said that he liked what Smokey had to say and then he came out on stage and blew it off completely? Makes my hackles rise. Just saying. Other than that I think it was very good vocally and he looked like he had some fun with it. Not his best but it was good. Allison Iraheta - Papa Was A Rolling Stone - Girl can SANG! It was great from beginning to end. She nailed it. Fabulous performance! Bottom three: Michael Sarver Scott MacIntyre Megan Joy Going home: Megan Joy, not because I necessarily think she should be gone before Michael Sarver, I just think that's how it's going to go down. 09:52 pm - American Idol - Top 11 - Grand Ole Opry Randy Travis was their guest "mentor" tonight. Man he's looking older! Now onto the review! Michael Sarver - Ain't Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up - I will say that I think that country is probably the right genre for him. He also kept up with the lyrics pretty well, I didn't hear too much mush-mouth. I think this is the most fun I've seen him have so far. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. His voice just isn't real strong. Alison Iraheta - Blame It On Your Heart - Where did all her vibrato come from? I think perhaps she might have been a bit nervous tonight. Other than that I think she did pretty well. I had wondered how she'd do tonight and I was pleasantly surprised. Good song choice for herself. Kris Allen - To Make You Feel My Love - Yes, Garth Brooks made it famous, but Billy Joel wrote it. Just saying. That said, he has a lovely voice. However, it sounded like a boy band song - minus the harmonizing and such. It was rather empty and boring to me. I think he needs the back up. Also, the echo effect annoyed the crap out of me. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. Lil Rounds - Independence Day - Interesting choice. I have to give her credit for not choosing "I Will Always Love You" and for trying to keep it mostly country. I do have to admit that I think she started off a bit rough but once she hit her stride it was a whole other thing. That last note? Great! I can see that she was a bit uncomfortable, country not being her genre and all, but it wasn't near as bad as the judges thought. Adam Lambert - Ring of Fire - I'd really love to know who's version of this he did. I don't think Randy Travis liked it much. It was definitely different. Yes strange, but the good kind of strange! I really liked the arrangement, the sitar, it was just really cool. He toned himself down some which was good too. Yes, Randy (Jackson the judge heh) hit it on the head. NIN meets country music. I thought it was very good. Scott MacIntyre - Wild Angels - Ever since he sang "Mandolin Rain" he's really kept reminding me of Bruce Hornsby. That's not a bad thing necessarily. There were some off notes and it was a very safe performance. I don't necessarily want to see him away from the piano, but maybe something a bit more uptempo and fun? Alexis Grace - Jolene - I really, really love this song. I think she sounded fairly good but I don't think I liked it much. It was lacking connection for me, I felt nothing from that performance at all. Too bad because I've really enjoyed Alexis. Danny Gokey - Jesus Take The Wheel - Okay, I think this may be his worst performance. He started off slow, and that was okay except that it sounded a bit off. Once he hit the chorus he was all over it. It was kind of shaky, but not horrible. Anoop Desai - You Were Always On My Mind - Now that was simple, sweet and lovely. His voice was smooth. Again with a boy band sound but the biggest differences between him and Kris? Anoop doesn't need anyone behind him harmonizing and he was interesting. Megan Joy Corkrey - I Go Out Walking After Midnight - Interesting song choice. Okay, I have to admit, the first thing I noticed? Her breasts. Not trying to be rude or anything, but they definitely stood out in that dress. Where'd those come from? Onto the performance, shall I? She still needs to work on her stage presence but she's toned the shimmy down, which is good because it really can effect her voice. I have to say though that I actually liked that a lot. Holy crap, she was sick? Then double props to her. Matt Giraud - So Small - The vibrato was in check tonight, thank goodness. I really hate it when he gets all goaty sounding. I really liked what he did with the song. His last high note seemed a bit off but overall I like that performance. Okay bottom three Michael Sarver Kris Allen Alexis Grace Leaving us? 10:09 pm - American Idol Top 13 Tonight's theme...Michael Jackson (and a couple of Jackson 5 songs). Lil Rounds - The Way You Make Me Feel - I really dislike her shirt. Just saying. I missed the last note of her song because the feed cut out. Evidently the judges liked that particular note though. It was a nice performance and I enjoyed it. Scott MacIntyre - Keep The Faith - I admit to not being familiar with this song. I do love watching him play the piano though. I thought he sounded pretty good and I did enjoy that bit of falsetto he did. Nicely done. Danny Gokey - PYT - I do love the gravel in his voice, it's not something every singer can do and still sound good. He's also got great stage presence. It was a fun and mostly exciting performance, that said I wasn't overly fond of the arrangement. Michael Sarver - You Are Not Alone - I would have really loved to hear him do something upbeat. His vocals weren't that great and honestly I was bored. Jasmine Murray - I'll Be There - I think this was probably a good choice for her. She did have some off notes. I disagree that she should have sung it a bit lower because her lower register is not that great. It was better than she has been. Kris Allen - Remember The Time - I liked the arrangement. It had some funk thrown into it. Ooo, the confidence he has when he's got his guitar shows! His vocals weren't awesome but they weren't bad either. He looked like he had a good time and I mostly enjoyed it. Allison Iraheta - Give In To Me - I forget that she's only 16 when she's performing. She's a natural up on that stage. I thought it was a good choice of song for her and I think she sounded great. I really like her voice. Anoop Desai - I don't think it was as bad as the judges thought it was. I do believe he was very brave in choosing this particular song to sing. It wasn't awesome but it was mostly fun. Jorge Nunez - Never Can Say Goodbye - Okay so his vocals weren't totally awesome tonight but when he was on his voice was smooth. Not bad for not having had the song picked until the last minute (that's what it sounded like he was saying). I would have liked to hear him sing something upbeat and fun though. Megan Joy Corkrey - Rockin' Robin - You can tell she is not used to being on stage. Her stage presence is about non-existent though at least she moved away from the mic stand tonight. I think she picked a fun song choice and I actually mostly enjoyed what she did with it. She has a neat smokey quality to her voice. Okay I hated the end though. What was with the "caw caw" thing? Adam Lambert - Black Or White - He's probably the only contestant this season who actually has the range to sing Michael Jackson. That was definitely in a league above the rest. Dynamic and fun. Loved it. Matt Giraud - Human Nature - Is it wrong that I at first thought he was singing a different "Human Nature"? Oh well. He's very comfortable behind the piano. It was definitely a solid performance and I really liked his falsetto. He does however need to watch the vibrato, it was getting to be a bit goaty sounding again. Alexis Grace - Dirty Diana - I'm not sure I agree with the judges that she was oversinging. She's got a big voice for such a petite woman! I think it was an interesting song choice and I think she did pretty well with it.. Okay so I think the surprise twist tomorrow is going to be that the judges are going to make the bottom 3 or 4 contestants have a sing off and then send two of them packing based on that. So my picks (I'm going to do a bottom 4 just in case) are. Michael Sarver Jasmine Murray Kris Allen Megan Joy Corkrey Going home? Michael Sarver and Jasmine Murray Current Mood: sore

07:27 am - The deed is done...
Late this summer, early this fall I came to the decision that I wanted to get my tubes tied. Hubby and I talked about it some while he was deployed and talked about it some more after he got home. Even though it's my body, he had to be on board with the whole idea. We're done having kids and I wanted to get off the pill. Sure he could have had a vasectomy, but I really wanted to do this. So yesterday I had it done. I also had the endomitrial ablation which gives me a 90% chance of not having periods again. Pretty good odds I'd say. So today I'm a bit sore (they gave me good prescription for pain) and I can take my bandages off and see my incisions. All in all I'm very happy. The doc says I can stop taking my pill now. He also said everything went as it should yesterday so yay! Hubby took the whole week off work to take care of me.
On Friday we're driving down to Houston to meet up with boostedmamma and family for a few days. I'm seriously looking forward to that! Haven't seen her since her wedding and hubby and the girls have yet to meet the Weeble.
Okay, I'm actually hungry again so I'm off! Current Mood: sore

01:57 pm - American Idol 3rd 12 of 36 Again any song from the Billboard Hot 100. I can deal with that. I warn you now that some of these reviews are a bit snarkier than others. If you don't like snark don't read on. Von Smith - You're All I Need To Get By - His vibrato at the beginning of the song needed to be controlled. Oh wait he seems to have control of it now. Some of his high notes are kind of pretty. Oh man does he open his mouth wide or what...I could count his fillings if I so chose. I think that's the first time I've even come close to enjoying him. Taylor Vaifanua - If I Ain't Got You - Her lower register isn't all that great. She has a decent enough voice I guess. Man that was totally boring. Alex Wagner - Trugman - I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues - Is he trying to put some growl into his voice? Oh honey that just isn't working, at all. That was not good. Yuck. Arianna Afsar - The Winner Takes It All - Sometimes just singing the melody is enough. That's what she should have done. Abba does not need to get the "Mariah Carey" treatment. Oh and that glory note? Bad on so many levels that I lost count. Bad, bad, bad. Ju'not Joyner - Hey There Delilah - I admit to absolutely loving this song. It's one of Morgen's absolute favorites. He did not need to slow it down like that, nor did he need to sing a song that we already heard him sing in Hollywood. I disliked the arrangement and I didn't like his voice much either. There wasn't any life to that performance. Kristen MacNamara - Give Me One Reason - Okay. Not quite sure about that arrangement. I think she had a nice, bluesy tone to her voice. I think I might have, maybe liked that. Nathanial Marshall - I Would Do Anything For Love, But I Won't Do That - Okay to sing this song you need to have a big voice. Nathanial did not. His voice wasn't awful and he did hit the notes (mostly). Oh, he likes to have song? Should he actually get through to the top 12 his next song should be "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". Felica Barton - No One - Okay, I'll try my hardest not to be too biast about this performance but I absolutely despise this song. The third time she sang "no one" (during the first chorus) was just god awful. She's just as whiny on this song as Alicia Keys. I didn't like it and it wasn't just the song, I'm not keen on Felicia's vocals. At least she remembered the lyrics, unlike the young lady she replaced in the top 36. Scott MacIntyre - Mandolin Rain - I think this was a good song choice for his voice. He wasn't spot on throughout the whole song, but when he was it was lovely. I'm glad he did pretty well. Kendall Beard - This One's For The Girls - Oooo a country song...not my favorite genre. Actually this wasn't too bad. That ending was off pitch. It was okay. Jorge Nunez - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me - Oh wow, what a lovely voice! You could see that he was so passionate about singing and that just made it better. Hubby and I were both pleasantly surpised. I could definitely listen to more from Jorge! Lil Rounds - Be Without You - I do have to agree with the judges, she did sound a bit too much like Mary J. Blige. She knows how to use her lower register though which is great. She just blew the rest of the girls tonight out of the water. I don't particularly like that song but I like Lil. Okay so my picks are Male: Jorge Nunez Female: Lil Rounds NTVG (next top vote getter): Scott MacIntyre Til next week! Current Mood: full

08:33 am - American Idol 2nd 12 of the Top 36 Again, Billboard Hot 100. Actually I do like this theme, it leaves it much more open. which I think is good for the semi-finals. Onto the performances. Jasmine Murray - Love Song - Best part of the performance? My girls coming into the living room to sing along -- CUTE! She's got a nice enough voice, but it didn't work with this song. I don't think I noticed her being off pitch as much as Randy but I do agree she started too low. I don't think it was as bad as the judges did. Matt Giraud - Viva La Vida - Interesting choice (I should note that it is one of few Coldplay songs I really like). He's got a nice voice but he needs to work on that vibrato. Way too much, he sounded like a goat. Oooo those high notes were so bad, my ears were hurting. His run on the word "world" (which he did twice) were also really bad. I was not impressed. Jeanine Vailes - This Love - He got on a what? A pwlan? What in the hell is a pwlan? Listen honey, if you're going to pull the mic away from your mouth, make sure you have the voice to back it up (*This is not the last time I say this in this review). I couldn't hear her when she pulled the mic away. Some really bad notes in there. I will admit she does indeed have nice legs and lips. Nick Mitchel (alias Norman Gentle) - And I'm Telling You - Is it sad that he's the best so far? I was really hoping he'd come out and be himself. When he hams it up, it effects his voice. There were maybe two moments in that song where he just let himself sing, if he just did that I think he'd surprise people. I will admit to being entertained, but perhaps he's better suited for "America's Got Talent". Allison Iraheta - Alone - Damn that girl can belt! I mean that in a good way. She just put the first four contestants to utter shame. Right song choice for her voice. She was the first one to make me go "wow". Kris Allen - Man In The Mirror - I think he started the song off too low and the end of that first line was way off. He did get better but it wasn't great. Too bad, he may be quite talented. Boring though. Megan Joy Corkrey - Put Your Record On - Okay first off, she needs to control her movements. Every time she did that upper body shake it affected her voice and not in a good way. She's got a really cool voice but it's not consitently good. I think she did a decent job and I liked her song choice but it wasn't fabulous. Matt Breitzke - If You Could Only See - This particular song holds a very special place in my heart (luff you Tor!). He sang it well but it was boring. Something was just missing. Jesse Langseth - Bette Davis Eyes - Again, quit pulling the mic away if you don't have a voice that we can hear over the arrangement and backup singers. I like her voice and I thought she was pretty sultry. I didn't enjoy the end of the song so much but she was mostly on pitch. Kai Kalama - What Becomes of the Broken Hearted - This guy is a FOAF (friend of a friend). Wow he was making some kind of funny faces tonight. He sounded pretty good though. Unfortunately it was still kind of boring. I did like the bit of growl he put in his voice near the end of the song. Mishavonna Henson - Drops of Jupiter - I dislike her nose. Okay they needed to cut the damn echo effect because it was just annoying. Another one I wasn't overly excited about. It was okay. Adam Lambert - Satisfaction - That was exciting. That look he gave into the camera to his right? He won a ton of votes right there (not necessarily from me), just saying. I loved his attitude and he has quite a range. I also enjoyed the phrasing. I, like Randy, enjoyed the manicness of the performance, but he is going to need to tone it down sometimes. So, my picks? Top Male - Adam Lambert Top Female - Allison Iraheta Next Top Vote Getter - Jesse Langseth I'd live to see Kai get a wildcard spot. I also what to say that even though those are my choices...I'm scared that Nick/Norman is going to get through...and as entertaining as he can be, I don't want that. Current Mood: tired

08:43 am - American Idol First 12 of the Top 36
Well it's that time of year again, time for me to bore you with my idol reviews. They are doing the themes again in the semi-finals. Tuesday's theme was Billboard Hot 100, from the time that Billboard started. That left the field wide open for song choices. Here we go... Jackie Tohn - Little Less Conversation - She's got a kind of Joplin quality to her voice, though not as pleasant sounding. It wasn't a bad performance. She was a bit all over the place with her dancing and that outfit...*gag*. It wasn't really all that exciting. It was just okay. Ricky Braddy - A Song For You - Wow, he has a lovely voice doesn't he? It was a pleasing to the ear performance but booooring. Simon is probably right, he doesn't have that star quality, which is too bad because he's nice to listen to. Alexis Grace - Never Loved a Man - Well now, that was pretty damn good. Best I heard at that point (which isn't necessarily saying much since she went 3rd...). Who knew she had that voice in there? I wasn't a fan of the outfit, not that she didn't have the body for it, I just thought it was a bit much. When the judges asked her to dirty it up a bit I'm not sure that was quite what they had in mind. Then again, who knows. Brent Keith - Hicktown - Okay so my my cousin in law's favorite teacher was his first grade teacher. This man is that teacher's husband. He's pleasant but not exciting, which makes me sad because I know my cousin in law (and family) are going to be voting their fingers off for him and I can't join in that. He does fine with country music but he's just not that exciting. Stevie Wright - You Belong With Me - The hell? That was one hot mess. I don't think she hit a single note right. Not once (that I heard) was she on pitch. That was the first, truly awful performance of the night. Yikes! Anoop Desai - Angel Of Mine - Am I one of few people who actually know this song? He does the song justice, but I wanted more from him. He has a lovely voice, but this was just not exciting. - Note - I'm finding myself rather bored tonight. That's a bummer! Casey Carlson - Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic - She's pretty isn't she? That dress was god awful though. The singing wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. I didn't like the arrangement much and god her winking and facial expressions were downright annoying! Yeah I didn't like this much at all. Michael Sarver - I Don't Wanna Be - I'm so disappointed. This song needs some power behind it and he didn't give it any. Where is the power in his voice that I've heard him sing with before? He could've given this song much more life than he did. Darn, I like Michael. Ann Marie Boskovich - Natural Woman - Why does she look so much older than she is? I swear all of a sudden she looked like she was in her mid forties while she was singing! Oh and she looks kinda pissed too. Um, that was not so good. Stephen Fowler - Rock With You - I still think Jamar should have been put in the Top 36 over this guy. At least he remembered the words. He sounded better on the chorus than he did at any other time. Ooo his voice gave out for just a sec on that glory note. That was another not exciting performance. Tatiana Del Toro - Saving All My Love For You - I think this is the best I've ever heard her sing. That's not saying too much. She hit a couple of glory notes, but overall it wasn't fantastic. I'm actually glad it wasn't, because in all honesty? I can't stand that girl. She did tone it down tonight, until we got to the interview with Ryan. Then it was all "Me me me me mememememmemme". She can go home now. Danny Gokey - Hero - Now see, that's almost what I'm talking about. He wasn't fabulous (no one tonight was) but he was, for me, the best of the night. I was hoping for a bit more into the fabulous territory from him, but I'll take this and be content for now. The arrangement was a bit heavy handed for the song. I do like the "growl" in his voice. Okay so overall the night was pretty blah. No one impressed me so much that I felt the need to vote for them. My picks are as follows. Top Guy: Danny Gokey Top Girl: Alexis Grace Next top Vote getter: Ricky Braddy. As we now know, I got 2 out of 3. It seems that Michael Sarver got the Next top vote getter spot. Maybe we'll see Ricky and Anoop in the Wildcard round? At least Tatiana was sent packing (yay!).

06:43 am - What a week... So on the 5th of January the family and I took off for San Antonio, TX. Hubby was having PRK done on his eyes and had to go with a "medical escort". That was us. We arranged to get homework for both girls from their teachers and set off. We knew we wouldn't be back until the 12th. The surgery went well though hubby's eyes are still blurry. He was told they probably would be for the next couple of months. He's supposed to stay away from nighttime driving until his vision clears.
Now for the bad news. We had barely gotten on the road yesterday when my phone rang. It was my sister calling to let me know that my great-aunt and grandmother were in a pretty bad car accident and that they didn't think Grandma was going to make it. I got a phone call maybe 15 minutes later saying that she didn't make it.
I'm very sad and at a loss to express what all else I feel. Current Mood: sad

12:33 pm - Writer's Block: Prohibited
Smoking. They're already kicking us out of bars and restaurants (though that I don't mind so much since I smoke outside at home anyway). Besides if you smoke, you're considered a pariah. Okay maybe not by everyone, but that vibe is out there. Current Mood: tired

09:40 pm - Accident Update Insurance called us this morning. They're totalling out our van so we get to go shopping for a new one. It's a "yay" and "Holy crap" type deal for me. Yay in that we get a new van (even though we weren't even thinking about doing so). Holy crap because "Holy crap I totalled my van!". Yeah. It's been a long day today. Current Mood: tired
